Reflection:
To demonstrate Standard 5 I have chosen three artifacts that describe how teachers can model lifelong learning and exhibit leadership in the school and professional community by demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.
The first artifact is a presentation made with Movie Maker for IT 720. The Movie Maker presentation describes the instructional design process which infuses technology in the learning process by creating applications to improve student learning. Instructional design focuses on the individual needs of the learner by identifying the end goal and using learning theories and models.
The second artifact is a Needs Assessment report prepared for IT 720. A needs assessment states a problem that can arise in education or the workplace and sets out a proposal and plan for creating a solution to the problem. The needs assessment is a way to reflect on current research and professional practice.
Finally, I have chosen an Accessibility organization chart prepared for IT 636. The chart and description is geared toward the school district in which I was employed at the time of the assignment. An accessibility organization chart is a way for a school district to analyze its practices as it relates to website accessibility for students, parents, and the public. It is a way to support student learning and contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community.

Future Learning Goals:
I plan to continually improve my professional practices by staying abreast of new and emerging technology. I am a member of professional organizations that provide workshops and conferences so I can make sure my students, other co-workers, and parents have the newest advances on hand. Since I teach technology classes, I plan to infuse technology into every lesson. With the knowledge I have gained from Instructional Technology, I feel I am well prepared to make use of digital tools and resources in support of student learning. |
