Reflection:
Standard 2 states that teachers should design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments. In IT 636 I was required to create an online course from scratch using Google Sites. I felt this was a great learning experience because all of the material was created specifically by me. I chose to create mine as an adult class. The website included learning activities, videos, presentations, and assessments. The next artifact is a Pictochart created in Dr. Beedle's IT 644 class. The Pictochart represents designing or adapting relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. After using the Pictochart in Dr. Beedle's class, I used it in my ICT class and the students enjoyed being creative, yet displaying their own ideas. The Study Stack artifact is an excellent example of a formative assessment using technology. This assessment was used as part of a Website created in IT 650. In Study Stack the teacher creates review questions or terms and the tool creates flash cards for the students to master. The final artifact under Standard 2 is my Model Theory Comparison paper written for Dr. Dedeaux's IT 720 class. This paper compares model theories, as well as instructional design, which helps teachers or instructional designers customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources. |
Future Learning Goals:
In the future I feel I will be incorporating more and more ways for my students to apply digital learning to their everyday classroom experience. By knowing about the diverse learning styles of my students and knowing how to incorporate learning models and theories into my lessons, my students' learning will be more individualized. By using digital formative and summative assessments, time will be saved in the grading process; therefore, giving me more time to devote to the classroom.
