REFLECTION
The Web site created in IT 648 demonstrates all of the standards listed above. I created a tutorial on the free online tool, Trello. While creating this web page, I was required to create a lesson, and collaborate with my group members to demonstrate its use. I enjoyed creating this web site and I enjoyed learning about the special features of this tool. During IT 648, my group members and I were each required to find and examine a free online tool, test it with our group members, and then reflect in report format. My group members and I collaborated by using Google docs to edit the report, we used one of the free tools, Google Voice, to communicate with each other about our project, and we used Free Conference Call.com to communicate with each other. ISTE Standard 1 was met by allowing group members to solve authentic problems by using digital tools and it also promoted student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
Using a Blogfolio, such as the one used in IT 648, I was able to demonstrate promoting student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. We were required to reflect on certain topics and thereafter comment on group members' blogs. After looking back over this blogfolio, I find that there is a great deal of useful information contained in it. The use of a blog is an effective learning tool that I will try to implement in my classroom. |
Future Learning Goals:
As a technology teacher, I am always in search of new and innovative ways to engage my students. Technology is a way of life for students and by using online tools that promote reflections, innovative ways of thinking, and collaboration, I am confident that my students will be able to compete with students from other areas with their search for higher education or employment
