Artifacts
Reflection:
The first artifact representing Standard 4 is a Cyberbullying Web Quest created for IT 610. The Web Quest is geared towards Middle School students to gain knowledge in how to conduct themselves responsibly online. The Web Quest teaches safe, legal and ethical use of digital information and technology. I am required to teach my students a unit on digital citizenship, so this assignment was helpful to me. |
Reflection:
The second artifact is a paper prepared for IT 610. This is a research paper describing unethical behavior on the Internet. The paper takes a detailed look into plagiarism, cyber cheating, and data breaches. Completing the research on this paper, I was able to see how unethical behavior is undertaken by individuals or groups. I was especially intrigued while doing my research on data breaches. This paper demonstrates promoting and modeling digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information. |
Reflection:
The final artifact in Standard 4 reflects modeling cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital age communication and collaboration tools. The artifact is a literature review created as a part of a collaboration with another student. The literature review examines the digital divide and explains issues and trends in helping to bridge the gap between cultures who are struggling to bridge the digital divide. I found the research interesting because in our culture we tend to take technology for granted and do not realize how other cultures may be struggling to stay abreast of technological advances. |
Future Learning Goals
Digital citizenship is important for students to learn at an early age. Bullying does not simply happen on the playground any more and children are learning to manipulate technology at a very young age. I feel each of the artifacts helps to demonstrate the responsibility teachers have in protecting students from predators, bullying online, and conducting themselves in a respectable manner online.
